About TheYardKit
TheYardKit is an independent guide to home and outdoor gear — power stations, grills, tools, e-bikes, and yard equipment. Dana Whitfield comes from home renovation and contracting, and reviews gear the way someone who has to install it and maintain it would: real effort, real upkeep, and the warranty fine print, not the sticker price.
Why install effort and upkeep belong in the price
A cheaper grill that rusts in a season isn't cheaper. A power station rated at 1024 Wh delivers far less usable capacity. We separate rated from real, and count the consumables, maintenance, and time a product actually demands.
How we research
We start with manufacturer specs, manuals, warranty terms, parts availability, and current pricing. Reviews focus on real-world performance, build quality, safety, required accessories, and the limits hidden behind headline numbers.
How comparisons are built
Individual gear reviews come before ranked comparisons. Each comparison states its criteria and only includes options with enough current evidence to assess. A brand cannot pay for a better rating or position.
How this site makes money
Some links are affiliate links. If you buy through one, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Affiliate availability does not decide whether a product is included, praised, or criticized.
Safety & limits
Follow all manufacturer safety and installation instructions; some projects call for a licensed professional. Prices, specs, and warranties change — verify current details before buying.
